It is a fine widget but can anyone plzzz tell me that is there any widget in yahoo for dictionary that provides definitions in same widget window rather than opening another browser window. If anyone knows, plz mail me on zain99_uet@yahoo.com. I have seen the same widget in Mac. So there should be one for windows. Thanks

I like the widget. But, may I suggest that you open the dictionary/thesaurus in a new browser window. Suppose I am editing a message in my current browser window and want to find a synonym for a word. When I type the word into your widget, the widget uses my current open browser window and essentially clobbers all the text that I was editing in the original browser window. Try it. Click on "Add your feedback" and type a few words, then type a word into your widget, click on dictionary, THEN, if you close the dictionary browser window, you have lost the edit screen, OR if you use the browser back button, you also lose the edit screen. Hmmmmm.

I should have added...I don't mind it going through the browser. The results can get pretty lengthy.

Fantastic! I love being able to access the thesaurus at www.dictionary.com from my desktop...I use it daily!
The only thing I would love to see changed is a new interface. I would love to see the silver color but with the blue plastic design! :) ... or even being able to choose our own style and color for our interface would be neat.
Anyway...great job!

Great work! I tried to use my old copy of Webster's New World Dictionary and Thesaurus on my new PC build with XP, but it wouldn't work. Your widget is just what I needed! Thanks a lot!

Chris, For a word, like water, that has multiple definitions they should all be displayed, no? Take a look at the dicitonary widget on Apple Dashboard and it handles multiple definitions and entries quite well and all within the widget window. I like the fact that you use the same input box for thesaurus and dictionary lookup, but I'd really love to have the definition show up in the widget. Thanks again.

The definition should appear in the widget. That's a big point of widgets, right? Otherwise, I could just create a keyword (in Firefox) for dictionary and get to the same info in less keystrokes with a better UI. Thanks!

Can't get this to work, where do the results appear once you type in the word and press either of the options?

Very nice and simple design. Would it be possible in next version to allow the user to set which dictionary to search in ( eg: Cambridge dictionary, or merriam W) ?

You could have just the text appear on the background, similar to how word of the day displays its definitions, having to open a browser somewhat defeats the purpose.

I thought I might try to automatically search the thesaurus and dictionary and pull the results back into the widget... but the test word I used was "water"... 10 matches in the dictionary and 77 in the thesaurus!! And the thesaurus only returns 10 at a time. So unless anyone has any suggestions, I'll stick to using the browser as the display method.

If you go into the preferences, there is an option to change to a brushed metal background. It's not perfect, but is reasonable. :)

Hi! :)
A very helpful widget... but I find your visual redesign to be a rev or two behind Mac OS X trend towards brushed metal. It would be great if it had the brushed metal look. Does the previous version have a less "Aqua" look? If so, do you have a URL for it?
Thanks :)

So did I until I realised that the returned text was too large to fit in the widget. With some smarts, I could capture it and popup each list or definition in a separate frame - but, is it worth the effort? And would it be any easier to read?
