The best notepad widget I've seen so far. I did give 3/4 for lack of pages, but you get the last star for the ability to resize and change the font (I have a VERY high resolution monitor, so the largest setting makes this the easiest notepad to read). Keep up the great work!

This is a good tool for me. Thanks for your work. I have a suggetion that it can chang Personal and Work note by another quicker way, like a combobox or a short cut. I hope you can implement it in the future version. Thank you.

Very stylish but lacks some features. For me, the main problem is that you cannot flip through pages. Dog-ears at the bottom of pages for leafing through the notepad back and forward would not disturb the graphical beauty and would it would solve the main problem of being reduced to basically one note. With pages, this would be the best.

So far so good! However, I would LOVE to see different fonts, or a way to use fonts of our choice off of our system. I would love to be able to use a font, such as Comic Sans, that looks handwritten. Thanks for the widget!

Obviously the print thing has been WAY overstated. I would like to see maybe a dropdown to switch between personal/work notes rather than having to get into the prefs -and to be able to add other sections; maybe even a set of +/- on the bottom to switch between sections... Either colored pages or section labels to distinguish which one your on.
This is a great novelty and very useful -thank you for your work!!!

This widget is awesome - I also love the spiral. So I want to say thank you for a splendid tool...! Make it even better.....: - We need the print, but it should print the graphic too - that would be awesome. - I want it bigger than it is now (scalable). - I would love to be able to make the the text bigger (and bigger, and bigger...).
I use this tool every day and I can't recommend it enough.

Seems to work great for me! (ver. 1.3) Two suggestions for following version(s):
1) Ability to export to a text document (rather than copy and paste).
2) Allow custom title for notepad (instead of just personal/work).
Thank you for developing this widget!

I was looking for a nice simplistic and aesthetically pleasing notepad alternative. This doesn't fulfill it despite the "improvement" over notepad's boring white skin. Plus, it is not too user friendly in terms of changing fonts etc.

1. We want control over shrinking it on the desktop 2. Give it the ability to change the sheet colors 3. Bold, italic, underline 4. Highlighters in different colors: battery acid green, etc. 5. Needs the ability to print! For gods sake, we need that ASAP!!

This is an excellent piece of widget that has enabled me to write a piece of information without opening Notepad (I'm no patient person, believe me) application, even though I still have to back it up somewhere, such as Notepad text documents. That last part didn't affect my choice of giving it maximum rating, anyways.
There are many possiblities with improving this such great widget, since everything CAN improves, regardless of what anyone says. One of the features I would like to see in this application involves the scribble-like handwriting but I think that can be done with certain fonts so I will see about it. But that's about all I can think since it has pretty much satisfied my needs.
After all, thanks!
Respectfully yours, Chief of Staff

Yes, I normally scribble notes on bits of paper, and my pad looks almost the same as this one ;)
I would like this widget a lot if: - I could set the size of font and row distance so the text exactly could fit into a row. - The writing area was as big as the widget (at my computer it's to short.) - I could disable the "personal notes" text.
I'm sorry for complaining. I approciate your work.

My text doesn't change when switching between personal and work notes. Are these suppose to be different notes or the same note with different headings?

I like the look and feel of the widget but.....
It does not seem to save entered text immediately. There is a bit of a lag which *could* present a problem.
For instance, I entered my third line of text then went to preferences and resized. The newly sized widget was missing my last line of text.
Any ideas? I'd like to be able to save the text I enter immediately 'cause you never know!

Thanks SianiPowys. I'll put those on the todo list. And sorry - yes, personal = home. I can only put generic fonts that are likely to be on everyone's system. But if you're ok with editing the code is easy as to add your own fonts.

Neat interface. (1) I may be overlooking something but how do I toggle between Work/Home notes? (2) There is a heading that says PERSONAL in Arial/Helvetica which clashes agains the Lucida Handwriting I have chosen (after all this IS about jotting text). Is PERSONAL meant to suggest this is the 'Home' category? Why can't I make it Lucida Handwriting, too? (3) Along the lines of personal 'jottiness' how about a couple more handwriting/printing font options, (say Caflish, BluePrint, Bradley Hand, Dupree), elim either Helvetica/Arial since they are functionally equivalent, and remove Times (who writes in Times?). (4) As I have no control over the rule spacing or font size, I find that the writing is no longer within the spaces allowed after 4-5 lines. Can that be fixed with leading controls at your end? (5) My scrollbar extends beyond the note page.

Martin, I can't replicate any of the problems you have!! Sorry! I developed this update on Konfabulator 1.52 and am now using 1.56. Try upgrading first. If no luck, email me specifics chris963creations@myfastmail.com The text spillage is a problem related to screen dimensions. I will try to code a fix. On losing text on minimize... whenever the widget loses focus (i.e. you change to another widget or app), it automatically saves your text. If anyone else encounters Martin's losing info prob, please let me know ASAP. thanks Also, I chose a distinct font for the heading so it would be easily distinguishable from your notes. But I can easily add a font option.

Great the new version -- able to hide the scroll bar and feature of categories :-) Little bug however: when having too much text on it, then the text stretches onto the desktop. I had scroll bar on and off, both times it was like that. The scroll bar had no effect when I pasted a slighty longer text into the note pad. Also, the scroll bar exceeds the size of the note pad (which is smaller now than the previous version). I totally like the shrinking when not in use. Super! It would be great to be able to select the font of the category - now it's Chicago - why not system font (Lucida). Only 2 stars for now for those bugs. Ahem, just continuing playing around: NotePad looses data when minimizing (minus another star),,, Chris, maybe I was too fast downloading the new version?

CC wrote: "Great idea! Is it possible to add a print function so you can take your list with you?"
I say: this is absolutely old fashioned and anti digital lifestyle. If taking your notes on the road should be the task, I'd rather wish to synchronize it to my PDA -- which is integrated in my cell phone, of course :-) Hey, if someone writes digitally to beginn with and then wants to print it out, why not take a 20 cents piece of paper and a good ol' pencil and write it manually on *real* paper to begin with? Why - I ask? There's such a big culture of fountain pens, papers, pencils, erarers etc out there. Think about it! I mean if we already go this path of having replicate the real world onto a computer screen, then I ask for this: I'd like to write on the notepad using my Wacom Tablet...

About the scrollbar issue, why not make the scroll bar simply thinner (like in PathFinder)? Otherwise I think this widget is the best of all widgets I've seen (I checked out all 500). I always wanted a notpad that would float. Thank You!! This thing can only evolve. Wow. However one thing that bothers me a bit is that the spell checker puts its red dots under a lot of words... Where can I turn that OFF ?? Anyways Chris, keep on the good work! Thanks again, Martin.

Nice widget! But if you'd like to turn it into a useful utility, you might want to offer multiple pages for different notes, perhaps by having tabs along the side like an address book...
And I have to agree with the comment that the scrollbar looks jarring with the visual metaphor of a paper pad.

It's not a bad idea, but there's a bit of a ways to go. A couple of suggestions to the author: consider making an option to have it shrink down (perhaps to a small image of a closed notebook?) when it's not active.
Also, find some better way to deal with having more content than fits into the window. Right now, the scroll bar just appears on the side of the notebook page, which is unsightly. Perhaps multiple pages?
