BBC Radio Tuner (smaller)
Oliver Vass

A version of my earlier BBC Radio Tuner, that takes up much less screen space.

[Editor's note: Really, all you ever need is Radio 1.]

No button for 5live extra?

Shay - November 16, 2005
Nice Widget! But how about adding 1Xtra & BBC Asian Network? Cheers!

Gary - October 19, 2005
Any chance of a version that launches Real Player?

Si - October 12, 2005
Any chance of a 1xtra button too?

JT - October 7, 2005
To move it around (on PC), simply hold CTRL while you click it. Now you can drag it anywhere!

shalanhat - September 18, 2005
Good effort. Two problems: This widget cannot be moved and there's no BBC World Service. Those should be worth the 2 missing stars.

Reginald - September 14, 2005
Great widget! Please add 1Xtra and the World Service, that will make it much better (Even five stars like David said).

Patrick - September 2, 2005
I can't seem to move the widget. Everytime I click to drag I'm opening a radio station.

oh, thanks Jamie...

Oliver:
I’ve seen and used your widgets and would like you to build one for another radio program. If you consider my request, you can email me at simonharri@gmail.com where we can discuss the project.
Cheers,
Simon Harris

Once I'd worked out how to shift it from the middle of the screen, (hold ctrl for other idiots like me), this is a great little widget. Five Live extra would be a bonus to have...

Stew Birch - July 31, 2005
Great, I love the beeb anyway, so this is great. Listen to the Department on 4 - excellent. Of course, a fab widget also

dwessell - July 26, 2005
I see that the program opens browser windows (Using Windows, please don't make fun of me), but when I click on a station, nothing opens. Am I missing something simplistic?

Thanks
David

Just found this wonderful widget! Can't wait for the updated version!

Oliver Vass - June 4, 2005
Like I said, It's time for an update. I almost get there and someone else makes a suggestion.
You want 1Xtra, You get 1Xtra.
But yiou have to wait a week or two, were moving back from New Zealand to the UK over the next 10 days (all of a sudden) so packing is a priority.
I promise to do this shortly! Please give me a hard time to get me to hurry up!

david - June 4, 2005
it's wicked man, wicked! loving the sounds out here in LA!

But PLEASE, add a button for 1Xtra, along with the world service. With those, it's five stars for sure!

Oliver Vass - April 6, 2005
I hadn't thought of that, and I suppose it's about time for an update. I'll get to it.

Gord - April 4, 2005
NICE ONE - Any chance of adding the BBC World Service? (methinks pretty simple?)
I have to get the internet on shortwave (=TCP.over.IP.over.HF) 'cos I live well north of Ambridge, Borsetshire

Oliver Vass - February 25, 2005
Are you using an Apple or a windows PC?

Carlos - February 23, 2005
The only issue i have is that it got stuck on the bottom of my screen and i cant move it from there. (only the top box is showing)

Oliver Vass - November 13, 2004
Thanks, Alistair & MrMark.
I never listen to Radio 1 either. I'm a radio 4, 2 and 7 (in that order) Being in New Zealand most of the best stuff is on in the middle of the night, so I also use the 'latest news' and 'listen again' buttons. On my own systems, to save a bit of screen space, I've taken out the radio 1 and 5 &6 buttons!
I'm glad you both like it.
Oliver

Oliver!

This is perfect. Cracks me up because I listen to BBC all day long (7 and 4, not 1) and now I don't have to mess around with my browser as much. I do wish though that there was a small tab that you could grab and drag to move the bar (I know you can use command, but at a user I don't want to have to remember every key combo I need for each widget and program).

Thanks for building this!

MrMark - November 11, 2004
I did not realize my life was missing the until now. Very nice.

Oliver Vass - November 11, 2004
Tod, It'll be my pleasure, but don't pay me, then it stays fun and I'm not working to a deadline!
You can email me on widgets@vass.info

Tod - November 9, 2004
Hey Oliver, very nice work. I wonder if you'd be interested in creating a version for CBC Radio in Canada? I can provide the graphics and the URLs for you, and I'd be willing to pay. Let me know -- give me your email address and I'll contact you.

Oliver Vass - November 8, 2004
I've been running it on 10.3.5 since the update with no problems, so i don't know what's going on there. The 10.3.6 update is ready, have you tried it on that?

G.Stokes - October 27, 2004
Causes Safari to crash every time in Mac OS10.3.5 . Shame, as it looks a brilliant widget. Any ideas?

Oliver Vass - October 26, 2004
Andrew, Sorry I've not replied for a while, I've been overseas (in the UK). What gives? I have no idea! I'm working hard on another project at the moment, that - unlike widgets - ought to make me a little money, but I'm still working on another update as light relief, perhaps that will work on both systems. Please let me know if you get it to work. I wish I could be more helpful.

Andrew Jennings - October 5, 2004
I am unable to get this widget to work on both of my systems. On one it works fine, on the other (same setup) it does not function at all - I have re-downloaded, still no luck - what gives

Jo Mumford - September 2, 2004
Be nice to us idiots. I cursed that I could not move a very helpful widget, and from David's comment I may not be alone. I had known it should be moveable and had tried every combination I could think of. It took his comment to show me there MUST be a way to shift the widget, and AGES to guess it might need to be done under Konspose. Don't stop people writing widgets, though.

claudius - September 1, 2004
Very nice, Oliver. Now I can reclaim some screen space. Thank you!

Arlo Rose - August 31, 2004
Agreed, and the comment has been deleted.

David C. Zentgraf - August 31, 2004
I don't really listen to BBC that much at all, but I don't think this widget deserves a 1 star rating, simply because somebody didn't know that he can move any widget by holding the CMD key...!
