Stardate
Paig Chong Woo

Stardate displays the current date using the stardate system from Star Trek. It can show either or both TNG or TOS style stardate.

Changed ID string from reverse domain to UID, added a link in the credits for the LCARS font.

How about an upgrade so it displays the date in the icon in the dock bar under Widgets 4?

Hope my design can at least give you some inspirations, and that'll be enough ;)

The new version is online! :) (well, there's just the Mac verison only, because I messed up packaging the Windows version...)

Oh, and I didn't make your theme the default theme, G.S.K.Lee, so it's still the classic theme that's on the image, sorry for that... But I can't bundle the LCARS font with the widget, and with some generic font like Arial, the prefix display mode gets the stardates truncated.

I'll try to redesign the theme to circumvent that issue in the future...

The modded widget file is here:
http://homepage.ntu.edu.tw/~b92203009/StardateModded.widget
Note that I use the LCARS font from:
http://www.lcarsdeveloper.com/downloads.php
And you'll probably have their permission to officially use this font in the widget, dunno for sure.

I've redesigned a graphical layout of this excellent widget:

If you would like to include this into your next release, just leave a message here and I'll upload it to somewhere for you.

Yeah, I was contemplating the idea of integrating a stardate converter to Star Date, but I'm not sure yet of how to mold it in the interface.

I can still implement the choice of year, give me some time to slip this in my schedule. ;)

Oops! Forgot to rate it. If you put my change in, I'd bump it up to 4 stars.

Any chance of getting my suggested change into the program?

I would love to have it modified so that I could select the current year. For example, if I picked 2383, it would provide the stardate based upon the current day and time, but would use 2383 as the year, therefore generating a TNG-style date of 60083.19 for Mon, 31 Jan 2383 08:44:39 GMT, for example.

TNG stardates start in 2323, but I prefer TNG style to TOS style, so I broke some rules. ;) But after all, we use gregorian dates for events occured before 1582, why couldn't we use TNG stardates before 2323? :)

Sure looks cool.

But doesn't TNG Stardate start in 2322 ? :)
