Blogbot
Greg Borenstein

This Widget uses Mail.app to post to your Blogger.com blog. Don't let your good ideas or interesting finds get stale or forgotten while you log into Blogger. Blog from the desktop with a single click.

-requires a functioning email account setup in Mail.app for sending
-requires Mail.app to be open, though it will stay in the background
-requires a Blogger account with email posting preferences configured (directions for setting this up can be found in Blogbot's preferences)
-I'm currently working on a future version that would use the Atom API to post and would therefore be cross-platform. If you have any advice or assistance to render on this, contact me through the forums (I'm atduskgreg).

running 10.3.9 with konfab 2.1...this sounded like a great time saver not having to go into blogger to post, but half the time it doesn't post and when it does, the formatting is all screwed up so I still have to go in there and fix it. Also, when typing in the text box, your spot disappears and the text jumps around alot... Needs some tweaking and the ability to resize the window when writing longer entries.

I really liked this program. When I upgraded to version 2.1 of Konfabulator for the Mac it stopped working. Not sure why that happened. Otherwise it is a fantastic widget.

Can't rate as I don't have a Mac - but I can see the colon in the screen grab above. It looks like the colon in the "Contents:" label is just overlapping. I must get out more.

Would be nice if you had this widget for windows too. I also noticed the colon in the text box. amybe you could fix this in the next (hopefully windows) version.

K_Man -- Sorry it took me so long to notice the comment, hadn't checked back here in a while. I'm not getting what you're saying. You're seeing a colon in one of the text fields? Explain.

Forgot to rate.

Hey Greg, after I setting the 3 (blogger, gmail,Mac Mail) systems up, and running about 6 test posts it seems to work great. But I'm wondering if you noticed the colon in the text box..the more I see it the more annoying it becomes, lol. 1.1?

Oh, yeah! Thanks for the comment, by the way.

If mail's not running, the apple script would have to open mail sometime before it tried to send the post, either on startup of the widget or when you click publish (meaning a long lag at that point). I thought that just sending the email (not trying to open mail) would be the least intrusive. Also, starting up and then closing down the app would be difficult enough that if I was going to put the work in for that then I might as well go all the way to the Atom API which would make mail unnecessary as well as making the widget cross-platform compatible. I just don't seem to have the chops for that yet!

I love the idea, the only request for enhancement I would have would be to send the update rather than just launching mail if it's not running.

You're very welcome. :-) If you're looking for help, you might want to try asking virexmachina, he's a whiz at this sort of thing.

Thanks for the comment! I would love to make it so that Blogbot could work via the Atom API, but I just don't have the skills for that yet. It would entail a bunch of advantages: not using Mail.app, cross-platform compatability, etc. Anyone who wants to help on this would be greatly appreciated. . .

It does work, I'll give it that. The interface is clean and decent. It's a hassle to have Mail.app open, and BlogThis! is more convenient for me, but it's a good widget for all its constraints.
