Play drum over your favorite song. Click on different drums or cymbals to get different sounds, or use the following keyboard keys to play:

[space] - basedrum
[f] - snare
[r] - tom1
[t] - tom2
[y] - tom3
[u] - tom4
[4] - splash
[5] - cymbal left
[8] - cymbal right
[j] - hi-hat
[k] - ride
[g]- cowbell

Check the preference window for more keyboard options. Activate mulitple sounds if you are on Windows via the preferences.

1.1 ----------------------
Configure your own set of keyboard keys in the preference window.

1.2 ----------------------
NEW DRUM PARTS: Splash cymbal, Opened Hihat sound (click on the side), Cowbell and Ride bell (ride center).

SOUNDS: The sounds are now in stereo, so you will feel a more realistic sound experience. Also, the sound have been equalized, compressed and trimmed to ensure that no lags are coming from the sound files (thanks to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/).

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS: As requested, you can add multiple keyboard shortcuts to each drum parts. Roll on!

VISUALS: The cymbals are more realistic with a logo and a little reflection effect.

UPCOMING: resize Widget, drum parts animated

1.2.1 ----------------------
Thanks to Felix who pointed out a workaround to the sound limitation, this minor version let iJam play two sounds at a time.

1.4 ----------------------
Found out by mistake I made the main window invisible... The problem is now corrected. I also removed the workaround for playing 2 sounds at a time, because it did not work on windows 2000. Have fun!

1.5 ----------------------
New preference let you activate multiple sounds. You need to activate this option if you are on windows. Requires up-to-date windows media player. So everybody gets what they want :-)

Thanks john for the great feedback. The cow bell is part of a percussion drum set. Lots of drummers use it, find out more on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_bell

Sorry about that Jordan, this is a "yahoo widget" technical limitation. If you want, you could ask directly yahoo widget to make it possible. Thanks anyway for the feedback.

it'd be great, if not for the fact that it is an invisible drumst! the graphics aren't showing up on my computer for some reason, but when i get the hand cursor and click the sound is fine.

As a drummer I found this widget to be an awesome idea. However I had to delete it as it kept wanting to become an icon on my PC and not a widget. I had installed it into my midget folder..and all my other widgets work fine. So I really didnt understand what was causing this to behave that way.

First: I absolutely love this widget. Best. Widget. Ever.
Buuutttt... I'm trying to figure out how to cut and paste the code that will allow me to play two sounds at a time and I'm not sure what:
1. Unzip iJam.widget, open iJam.kon
means.
I imagine I need from widget development toolkit but I can't seem to find one.

Thanks!!!

Except I'm having trouble getting multiple sounds. I did the playBetter swichteroo but it still doesn't play multiple sounds at once. Maybe it's my computer? Dell 600m

How to play more than one sound at a time:
1. Unzip iJam.widget, open iJam.kon
2. Copy code at http://konfabulator.wikicities.com/wiki/Play_multiple_sounds_simultaneously and paste it inside the onLoad action section
3. Replace all play( with playBetter(
4. Rock on!

Cool widget, looking forward to animated feature.

I'd rate this 5 stars if I could. I love this thing. My desktop now revolves around this widget. I would love to see the functionality of being able to get more than one sound at once as other people have said. That aside, this is no doubt the best widget for Konfabulator. Great work.

I really like this. However, I too am having issues with lag. This widget would be taken to the next level if you could get the response quick enough that I could play along to music. Otherwise, awesome!

This Widget is absolutely awesome! I nearly uninstalled Konfabulator, because I had not found real good widgets, but this one is terrific :-) Love it so much.
To make it even better, add the ability to play several sounds at a time and maybe volume control.

arkitekt - September 30, 2005
crazy! I love this, I second someone elses comment about volume - it would be great to have an independent volume control for the widget volume. But that's really just added bonus this is a great idea and the upcoming animation sounds good too!

As a drummer who does not own a kit at home. This is pretty nice for working on bits of a song you may have in your head or just for general practice. The only thing i'd like to see is making it so more than one sound could play at a time, and making the shortcuts user defineable, maybe even the ability to link it to devices other than the keyboard if possible so that I could use a joystick or game pad for a base "pedel"

Sweet - September 20, 2005
It feels repetitive to say how awesome this Widget is. The only thing that could still use improvement is the only one instument at a time thing. I downloaded the new version, and I still can't play more than one at a time, which would make this Widget rock even more so. Can't wait to see it fixed....

Any way to allow more than one drum/cymbal go on at the same time...or is that a system limitation?
This comment applies to version 1.1

Sylvain - September 15, 2005
WOW, thanks for the feedbacks! :-)) Makes me have new ideas for the widget! Would you like to see the cymbals move when you hit them?

As requested, the version 1.1 is out and let you customize your own keyboard conf. Also you should feel less lag using the keyboard.

If anyone finds out how to not trunkate the sound (doc says it shouldn't unless you specify), please let me know!

Awesome idea...although when you use the keyboard ( I prefer it that way), there is noticable lag from when you hit the key and the noise is produced. This makes it really hard for me to play along with my music since there is lag. Dont know if its fixable....?
