Works great! Only problem: editing the preferences causes the silders to move down 1 notch. If you edit the preferences and change only one thing, such as color, it moves the work minutes from 10 to 9, break minutes from 2 to 1, and iterations from 5 to 4.

Gosh, can you make the sliders go in 1 minute increments instead of two minute increments? Then I could do (17+3)*3 and be all happy like. Thanks!

I was getting the same error as other people ("TenPlusTwo was unable to load istself seccsesfully"), and was able to solve it. Here is what I did: - Note that I was using the default feature in Windows XP to handle ZIP files and not WinZip or another program. - Download the TenPlusTwo.widget file from here and save it to your desktop - Change the filename from "TenPlusTwo.widget" to "TenPlusTwo.zip" - Open the ZIP file you just renamed - You will see a folder named "TenPlusTwo.widget". Open that folder. - You will see a folder named "Contents". OPen that folder. - You will see a folder named "Resources", and three other files. One of those files is named "tenplustwo.kon~". Delete the file named "tenplustwo.kon~". - Go back to the file that you renamed to "TenPlusTwo.zip" and rename it back to "TenPlusTwo.widget" - Double click on "TenPlusTwo.widget" to install

I would like to upload the fix onto the Yahoo Widget Gallery, but I can't for legal reasons.
When you sign up to the widget gallery, Yahoo has you sign an agreement. As part of that agreement, Yahoo wants you to not upload a widget based on other, existing widgets.
Since I've had no contact with the original author, I don't have permission from the original author to work something out, and can't legally upload a widget based on the modified code.

I had the same problem as other recent posters about the version downloaded from Yahoo not working with the current Widget Engine for Windows. However, I happened to discover that the modified version that Will posted to his personal website back in March (see his comment below from 3/12/06) DOES work!
So, if the yahoo download doesn't work for you, I suggest you try downloading from:

is it possible to make the time go 60 minutes on 10 minutes off? this is how i control my procrostination, my tasks take close to an hour at a shot... and people using the hack can progress to longer spans of working. control of the sound volume would be great, i often play music on my computer and would like to turn up the alarm, i also like what people were saying about a pop-up on the screen.
great widget, just what i was looking for! Thanks!!!!

Okay, adding a dialog box is trivial here.
1. Open up the widget with Winzip. 2. Go to tenplustwo.js 3. After this line:
if (preferences.usesound.value == 1) play("Resources/workstart.wav");
add
alert("Work Start");
on a new line.
4. Likewise, after
if (preferences.usesound.value == 1) play("Resources/breakstart.wav");
add this line:
alert("Break Start");
5. Then open the modified widget (go to the .kon file and it will open it as usual).

OK, now I'm having problems with getting it to work on a mac! Downloaded it and unzipped it to form a .widget folder. Putting this in the /library/widget folder doesn't seem to work, nor naming it as tenplustwo.wdgt. I'm a total dashboard newbie here and any help is appreciated! All the other widgets I've used are automatically installed.

nice widget! but the sliders just could not meet my need, so I modified it to use textbox instead of slider. The sound too, seems not doing the job for me, so I change it also ! for the pop-up someone suggested, I guess it is a good thing, however, I guess a better sound clip could just do the job. On a second thought, maybe users will disable sound, so a pop-up would be good for them.

Thank you. Exactly the timer I've been looking for. Rather than running two timers (one for work, one for rest), it's all here. No problems running. To make this 100% perfect, I'd like to change the alarms so they're more "alarming". Thank you for making this.

This is great!
I second the request for a pop-up. Also, could it maybe run a file when it switches modes? I've got applescript apps that block and open access to my biggest time-wasting sites, so it would be cool if this could run the "open" app when switching to break mode and the "close" app when going back to work mode.
Also, why doesn't it support times with odd values? I'd like to set it at (13+2)*4, but this isn't possible with the times locked at even numbers.

To be clear, there is nothing Mac-specific about this widget. I developed it on a Mac and submitted it as "Generic", but because of the way I submitted it, the gallery software labeled it Mac-only. For now, you can always run the Widget Converter on the Workshop page.
