iStat memory
Marc Edwards

iStat memory is a simple Widget to monitor memory usage with a striking design and two different views.

Switching between the simple and advanced views is merely a matter of clicking on the dial's centre.

- All the skins from the Dashboard versions are included: orange, blue, green, pink and “fire” (orange and red).
- We’re now using the Y!WE “flat” file format, so Mac users will only see one file in the archive, not two.
- A couple of other tiny bug squashes.

These widgets are great, but ever since I upgraded to the new version of widgets, when I view them in gauge form, the rectangular form also appears, only the rectangular form doesn't actually work.

Has a BUG - widget is in slightly different position on screen with every Windows restart - shifts around 10-20 pixels I think... none of my other widgets (apart from the Istat cpu) does this.

Witheld the "4th" star for the following reasons:

(1) - mainly because of inability to "resize" (would love being able to scale down)
(2) - no option to scroll "info tab" open on either side (limiting desktop placement)
(3) - no explanation on how to move the widget around screen (some may simply trash it out of frustration if they are unable to figure it out)

Otherwise, a very nice & useful gadget.
Aloha!

I love the style of these, I wish you had a clock and weather gages in the same format. These widgets are perfect for my auto themed desktop. Thank you and the rest of the team for your efforts...

These iStat meters are great--how about adding a network traffic monitor?

Very cool widget! Love the car theme. However, I would expect that if it is supposed to mimic the fuel gauge of a car, then the more memory you have should mean that the needle should point to full not empty. Therefore, the more memory being used would shift the needle from Full towards Empty...

Just a thought :)

Thanks for the great comments!

Anyone who knows our widgets well will know that we update them pretty often and try to take on as much feed back as possible. We're trying to get a version of iStat pro released for Y!WE.

Here's what it looks like for OS X's Dashboard: http://www.islayer.com/index.php?op=item&id=7

It's also worth noting that even though I'm listed as the "author" of these widgets, it's a team effort. The other half of iSlayer (Brad) does all the programming and has spent a huge amount of time getting these things working well, so please make sure you thank him too ;)

We'll be posting any updates about all this on our blog: http://www.islayer.com/blog/

Cheers,
Marc.

Excellent, in look and function. Only thing I could suggest is to have the option of the drawer opening to the left or the right. Many thanks for this, it's just replaced the default one :)
