location and stations are all messed up recently. I choose 14201, which is Buffalo, NY. The provider dropdown list seems to be correct. But when I choose broadcast, the station lineup is obviously somewhere in Florida. Please fix. Thanks!

I love your widget....until last night. After several attempts to reload, when I select my zip code (and others in the same metro area) it gives the right broadcast area selections, then loads east coast channels...I live in Idaho where senators may or may not be gay (eg-KNIN...not Minnesota where they catch them in stings and they may or may not be guilty (eg-WCIQ). Zip code 83706, Broadcast - Boise, ID.
Thanks

Just an update from the last time I commented when I thought my TV Tracker widget was broken, it works again! I didn't modify any settings. Just opened it up a few days later and crossed my fingers and it worked. Good luck to all of you who still have broken widgets!

OK, this is just about the best widget there is. The only way this could be any better is if I could use it to remotely set my DISH DVR to record the shows I check on the widget. That would be worth paying for! ;)

Bryce,
I want to develop a widget that works on TV channels, and since you did a great Job , and it is an open source community, I want to use your code as a baseline to my widget,
I can write the entire thing from scratch, but it will be much easier and helpfull to the community , if you will allow me to use your code,

can I do that?

thanks

There is a small bug with the resize feature, when the mose get into the area of the resize (bottom right corner) the widget resize automatically to 150/100 and you can not change it (unless you change the registry manually)
the fix is actually easy:
goto resizeWindow.js (in the widget) goto line 63 and replace the
resizeBox.onMouseMove = this.Resize;
with
resizeBox.onMouseDrag = this.Resize;

It's pretty handy to have on my desktop, but it would be even better if the channels were correct. They aren't! I can figure out the correct channels (the new digital broadcast stations are the ones totally messed up), but I shouldn't have to "figure out" anything; I should just be able to quickly see what's on or coming on the RIGHT channel.... It needs work, but I like it okay.

Excellent widget! Works great since I have a WinTV tuner card in my system! One suggestion, would it be possible to put a 'colored bar' over the current time block section? In other words, if it's between 11:30p and 12:00a, the 11:30p block is highlighted in a different color say yellow or green. Keep up the great work!

Very useful & customizable widget. The only negative would be that it uses ALOT of memory compared to my other widgets and more than most processes listed in the windows task manager. Sometimes it gets close to 70,000k at times. My PC is up to date enough to handle it w/o any problems, so it's not really much of an issue for me. Might just be the nature of the beast so to speak. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if you'd be able to do anything about that w/o eliminating features. There seem to be no complaints about it by users in the comments. :-)

By far the best TV Listing Widget! The only thing I'd change would be that when adding a program to your favorites, the color changes to red no matter what category it is. Currently if I add a movie or sports program to my favorites list, it appears as bold green or yellow. It would be nice to quickly see if any favorites are on regardless of category.
Thanks again for this very useful widget!

Great job!! I was looking to do something like this for quite a while, but I could not find a stable content feed.

Suggestions:
1. Allow a "go to" to display a specific date/time.
2. Show, somewhere, what the current date(s) are that are currently displayed (I'd be fine with a popup).
3. Show the widget version number in the "About"
4. Display a list of upcoming favorite programs.
5. Display a list of upcoming broadcasts of a selected program.
6. Display the list of programs for a specific channel.
7. Allow search of a program title or content by keywords.
8. Automatically shift the view more frequently than currently (every 1/2 hour, for example).

Anyway, I love it. I esp find the "time shift" setting useful for reasons I would have never expected and reasons that are too long to go into! ;-)

I LOVE this widget! It's my favorite. It's really a 4-star rating, except for my 2 requests:

1.) I would like to be able to change the color of my favorite shows. (I agree with everyone else who mentioned this...)

2.) I would like to be able to move to the left/right in 1 hour in addition to 3 hours. It drives me crazy that I can't see 8pm-11pm (primetime), instead of 7pm-10pm. Or if someone konws how to do this, let me know.

This is so awesome! Thank you! This is so much faster than the old widget I was using (which broke).

Two quick feature requests for your consideration:
1. It would be nice to be able to choose a different color for my favorite shows. The bold print really doesn't stand out enough when using white text, IMO, and I'd love to make it bright yellow or green or something.

2. More Importantly: It would be really nice to be able to view different days/times without having to click the "move right three hours" button repeatedly, so that I can see what's going to be on tomorrow or the next day.

Thanks for the great widget.

How do you install this on mac osx? It downloads with a .widget suffix which osx doesn't seem to know what to do with. If I change the suffix to .wdgt then osx says its an invalid widget.

I get SOOOOooooo tired of going to TVGuide.com to get my listings. This is perfect!! I actually hide it, and us the F8 key to bring it to the top!! Instant TV Guide!!

I like the look of the Light Glass, except that when I open a show for a description, it overlaps the upper left corner, and I can't read the show data. Switching to Dark Glass helps alot!

This is a great idea, in theory.

It doesn't let me change zip codes! I go back and forth from college and my home, and I'd like to be able to change the zip code.

Also, the shows kind of run into each other without dividers between them, and the show titles get cut off and the tool tip is useless (instead of giving the full name of the show, it displays the cut off title).

Otherwise, this is pretty well done.

Just had to say THANK YOU! Love it.

Only suggestion: when my internet connection goes down for an extended period of time(which it does often because my roommate and I have to trade back and forth) and I keep the widget open, it pops open like 20 alerts saying the connection is broken (luckily they are all directly on top of one another so it doesn't block my screen or anything, but I just have to close each one) So anyway, is there a way to only have one alert pop up?

To add more than one range, separate the list with semicolons (not commas).

Also, this still hasn't updated to 0.72, so look at my earlier comments for the fix to change the provider information.

Good but needs improvement.

1) needs ability to change zip code easily (if I move or travel for work) - currently only allows initial zip code establishment.

2) needs ability to change cable provider or service level - I accidentally selected the wrong type (standard vs digital) - now I'm stuck with channels that don't match what I have. If I, in the future, wanted to upgrade the service level (basic to expanded) then I am stuck with the lesser service.

Turning the widget on and off or turning the engine on and off does not reset your choices.

what is the format required for manually entering more than one range of channels to omit? i need to omit (as an example): 214-234, 365-500, etc. i tried it with and without a space after the comma, but it still only omits the first range. i could do it by clicking each channel, but that would take forever, since my directv listing is chock full of useless channels.

Thanks, Bryce. I was able to do the regedit you advised and to choos another Time Warner system and I believe I now have the correct channel listing for the Ithaca, NY. system although channels above channel 78 don't show and we have several hundred channels on the system. It's unfortunate that the choices for Ithaca all indicate CU (Cornell University) and Ithaca College. These 2 institutions are merely IN the city of Ithaca and do not control the cable system. The size of the window used to choose providers is not large enough and cannot be enlarged so that one can read the entire name of the system choices. Maybe there is one for just the City of Ithaca with ALL the channels but I can't find it.

I think it must have to be approved first. In the meantime, you can go to start->run and open "regedit". Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareYahooWidgetEngineWidgets and delete the "TV Tracker" key. Then reload the widget and it should allow you to try again. That should fix it, just be careful that you don't delete anything else!
